Business Analyst

Summary:  Responsible for the initial analysis of telecom expense and usage data for clients.  The Analyst will collaborate with Sales, Implementation and Client Services departments in order to meet clients’ business objectives and to maximize opportunities for savings.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze billing data.
  • Identify and recommend optimization opportunities to maximize client savings.
  • Obtain recommendation approvals.
  • Validate savings by reviewing provider invoices and reports.
  • Participate in Implementation process for new customers.Work closely with Implementation Team and Optimization to ensure timelines are adhered to.
  • Present findings to client in a manner that is easily understood by participants.
  • Complete handoff process of new client optimizations to Optimization team.
  • Identify, recommend and implement process improvement strategies, tools and reports.
  • Maintain good working relationships with Account Teams and internal departments.Set goals and objectives for self that include stretch goals to continue business/professional development and personal growth.
  • Maintain the quality of data analysis across Analysis team and ensure output from the Analysis team meets client and internal requirements for accuracy and delivery, and adheres to internal processes and procedures.
  • Ensure Data Analysis team member is appropriately developed with the necessary skills and tools
  • Act as the primary point of escalation within the Data Analysis team and manage the team’s priorities, coverage, workload and work activities.

  • Understanding of telecommunications (data and voice) or demonstrate an aptitude for learning and working with diverse datasets.
  • Minimum 4 years of data analysis experience, including statistical methods, data models and data mining.
  • Must be able to resolve practical problems. Able to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Desirable Skills

The following skills would be beneficial but are not required.

  • Experience with analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau
  • SQL database knowledge


Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in economics, math, computer science, statistics, engineering or related field; or 6 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, client solutions, and procedure manuals.  The ability to write routine reports and correspondence; as well as speak effectively before client groups.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Salesforce and Advantix Internal software.
